6 Hacks To Shorten Your Beauty Routine

While we can’t all have the luxury of a celebrity makeup artist at our disposal each morning, it is still possible to leave the house looking fierce even after hitting the snooze button one too many times!

Here is a compilation of the top 6 beauty hacks that have served me well during many mornings of racing against the clock to get out the door on time.

1. Identify your necessities
When given only a limited amount of time to get ready, sometimes a full face of makeup is not always achievable. On these occasions my number one tip is identifying what it is that makes you feel most confident. For me that is a defined brow and a radiant complexion. For others it may be a swipe of lipstick and a pop of mascara. The aim is to figure out which steps, when time is restricted, will still leave you feeling content with your beauty routine for that day.

2. Know your A-team
While one of my favourite things about being a beauty fanatic and MUA in training is a steadily growing makeup collection, I have learnt through experience that mornings are not always the ideal time to experiment with and trial new products. Take my advice and free yourself from stress and unexpected surprises in the morning. You don’t have no time for error, so narrow your beauty routine down to your best performers; those that are easy to apply and always serve you well.

3. Multi-use products.
If, like me, you are someone who constantly finds themselves needing more time, allow me to introduce you to your new best friend – multi use products. Makeup formulations are getting more advanced day by day and there are now many cosmetics on the market that can be used in a multitude of ways. One of my all time favourites is NARS The Multiple (AUD 56.00) which can be used for eyes, lips and cheeks. Products like these can cut precious time off of your beauty routine, while saving you space in your makeup kit. Did I hear someone say genius?

4. Strobe instead of contour.
Ever since Kimmy K revealed that her flawlessly sculpted features is thanks to contouring, this miracle makeup technique has become a staple in many people’s beauty routine. While I am a passionate believer in the art of contouring, I also know that it can be time consuming and often requires a bit more attention than other aspects of your beauty routine. When pressed for time but you still want definition to your face, I strongly suggest you consider ‘strobing’.  For those of you who have no idea what on earth I’m talking about, let me break it down for you. Essentially, instead of using both darker and lighter shades to contour your face, strobing is focuses purely on highlighting the places that the light would naturally hit it. This means that you can forgo the darker contour shades and power through this step in half the time!

5. Love a low maintenance lip.
While I love a bold lip for more reasons than I can count, finding the time to line, prime and colour your lips on a morning when time is of the essence is sometimes out of the question. My recommendation for those fast paced mornings is to instead reach for a tinted balm or sheer gloss that you can easily apply in less time than it takes you to order your morning latte. Try Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturising Lip Colour Balm (AUD 35.00).

6. Power Brows
When in a hurry, ditch the time consuming pencils, powders and pomades and conquer those brows with a tinted brow gel. A quick swipe of a tinted brow gel can add fullness and definition to your brows while helping them stay in place all day long. My go to is Anastasia Beverly Hills Tinted Brow Gel (AUD 37.00) . Your brows will be forever on point.

Do you have any time saving beauty tips that I have left off this list?

I’d love to hear them!

Love,
Nicole
