Studying is an inevitable part of the student life, but it doesn’t have to be a painful experience! Studying is very important and helps us to be more prepared for our in-class assignments and exams. To get the most out of your study time, follow my top 5 study tips!
1. Don’t cram!! Stick to what you know when studying the night before an assignment. You’ll only make yourself nervous if you try to learn new information. Review your notes or test yourself on key points.
2. Organise study groups with your friends
Studying by yourself, especially for long periods of time, can become a monotonous activity. However, by getting some of your class mates together for a study group, you can break this monotony and learn faster!
3. Snack on brain food
Eating well is good for your mental health as well as your physical health. The brain requires nutrients just like your heart, lungs or muscles do. While studying, try snacking on some blueberries or nuts to help keep your brain fueled and remember to drink plenty of water.
4. Organise your study space
Creating a perfect place for you to sit and study is also very important! You want the area to be comfortable but not too comfortable that you will fall asleep or lose focus! Make sure you have all the materials you need for studying close at hand, so you don’t waste time fumbling around for a ruler or pencil.
It goes without saying that a sleep deprived person is less likely to be able to perform, focus and learn efficiently! Sleep deprivation can affect important aspects of your mind and body such as your mood, energy, ability to learn and memory! Make sure that you are getting your 8 hours and remember to put down your phone or iPad at least 30mins before bedtime.
