Social media has become essential to any business, regardless of whether you’re a start-up or an established company. There are many platforms which you can take your business to in order gain exposure, build a loyal following and market yourself effectively.

Facebook for Business:
What to use it for:
Facebook is ideal for sharing information about your business and services. You can share relevant articles, photo and videos as well as albums. You can host competitions and create Events. You can also directly interact with your customers via Facebook Messenger.
What are the benefits?
A lot of smaller businesses and freelancers will use their Facebook page in lieu of a website because it’s free and easy to use.
Having a business page on Facebook is great way to gauge your target audience via Page Insights and Analytics. Using these free tools, you can gain a better understanding of your customer (audience) and what kind of content gets a better response.
How to put money behind it:
When you have a Facebook Business page you are eligible to set up an Ad account, which allows you to reach a greater audience.
If done correctly, Facebook ads can significantly improve your business prospects, if done correctly.
You can advertise by either boosting a current post so that it is pushed out to more people or you can create an specific ad that appears in the audience’s timeline, with the option to choose a right hand side placement if they are viewing Facebook on a desktop. if on desktop, down the side of their feed.
You will need to set an objective, a budget and then a target audience.
Objective – Facebook breaks this down into three categories; Awareness, Considerations and Conversions.
Budget – whilst having a larger a budget will ensure your ad isserved to more people, it doesn’t necessarily help your ad or business; focus on customized audiences to ensure more bang for your buck.
Audience – You can customise your audience by geographic location, age, gender, location and interests (eg. Hairdressing, Make-up)

How to grow your followers:
- Competitions are a fast way to grow your list of followers. The easiest competition is a “like and follow for your chance to win” format. Just be sure to include your Terms & Conditions somewhere (we use the Notes section) to ensure everyone can see what they are eligible for.
- Build a Likes campaign in Ads Manager where you can target people you think would be interested in your product or service.
- Finally, and most importantly, interact with your audience! Communicating with people in a fun and polite manner helps to build an online community where people trust and appreciate you and your business.
